CLASS A

Class A returns 12 runners who had individual speed ratings of 130 or higher
... All 12 runners are profiled above.

Zariel Macchia enters the 2023 XC season as the top-rated Class runner A and the
top-rated overall runner in NY State ... Macchia has the highest individual speed
rating (158) of all runners which she achieved at the USATF U20 Championship 6K
a little over a month after finishing 6th at Champs Sports Nationals (previously
known as Foot Locker).

Izzie Sullivan and Lillie Bogdan have the next highest individual and overall speed
ratings and may be capable of challenging for the top spot ... Emily Bush is very
consistent at a high level.

Other talented Class A runners seem capable up stepping-up and challenging for a
podium position at the State Class A race.

Saratoga Springs (last year's NXN National Champion) is returning girls with
season-best speed ratings of 147, 140, 138, 124, 115 and 113 ... these numbers
make Saratoga pre-season contender for a podium position at Nationals.

CLASS B

Sophia McInnes enters the 2023 XC season as the top-rated Class B runner in NY State
... she did not race during the championship portion of last year's XC season (I
believe due to injury) ... Sophia had excellent track performances (see profile above)
which suggests she could be one of the top overall XC runners in the State.

There are eight other returning Class B runners with a speed rating of 122 or higher
(four of them are profiled above) ... all are potential podium finishers at the
State Class B Meet.

Rachel Miller finished 2nd (to Karrie Baloga) at last year's State Class B race ...
Madyson Moroney was 4th at last year's race and Mia Paolina was 3rd.

Sayville was last year's Class B champion team with Mullane Baumiller leading the
team ... Baumiller performed exceptionally well during track and is a contender for
the top spot in Class B ... The next three Sayville finishers at State were
underclassmen.

Paige Sheiffele was moved up the list below due to excellent track performances.

CLASS C

Class C has six returners with a highest speed rating of 120 to 130 ... Emilia O'Leary
is the favorite based on highest speed rating (130), top returning runner from the
State Class C race (finished 3rd behind Angelina Napoleon) and good track performances
... Kirsten Melnik raced nicely at the outdoor State Track Meet and could be a serious
contender ... Emma Lewis finished 9th at State XC Meet last year (as an 8th-grader),
and had some good outdoor track performances (8th in the State Steeplechase) ... These
three runners are profiled above.

I expected several other Class C runners might step-up to provide some competition.
