How To Read the Table Information: The number following the name is the school grade for the 2018 XC season. The "Class" in parentheses pertains to the 2018 XC season. The XC data listed below the name are, in order, the race name, race date, place, actual race time, and speed rating (higher is faster). Selected track data are also listed for most runners. My Boys XC performance database and Boys track & field performance database are available on separate web-pages.

Parker Stokes 12 Maine-Endwell (Section 4 - Class B)

Parker Stokes enters the 2018 XC season with highest overall speed rating of any returning NY runner (by a fraction of a point) ... He was the NY Junior Runner-of-the-Year and is only NY runner with two speed ratings in 190s, and he is the top returning NY runner from NXN Nationals ... has shown nice XC improvement over the past two seasons ..... Parker was much improved during track with major PRs at all distances including the 3200m (9:11.26) and 1600m (4:21.79) ... won the NB National 2000m Steeplechase (5:53.74) and set the NY State 3000m Steeplechase Junior Record (9:05.67) with an impressive win at States.

Tyler Berg 12 Burnt Hills (Section 2 - Class B)

Tyler Berg had an outstanding XC season last year (nicely improved from the previous year) ... consistent speed ratings in the mid to upper 180s ... 4th at Federations and 2nd at the NXN Regional ..... In track, Tyler set PRs at 3200m (9:17.45) and 1600m (4:27.0) ... he is part of a strong Burnt Hills team for 2018.

Shea Weilbaker 12 Saratoga Springs (Section 2 - Class A)

Shea Weilbaker was the NY State Sophomore Runner-of-the Year in 2016 and performed even better in 2017... multiple speed ratings in the mid and upper 180s and qualified for NXN Nationals.

Shea set some major PRs during track including a fast 3200m at Loucks (8:59.46) ... he was the NY State Indoor and Outdoor State Champ at 3200m ... finished 3rd at the Millrose Mile (4:15.88) ... He is a real contender for the top spot in NY.

Garrett Brennan 12 Fayetteville-Manlius (Section 3 - Class A)

Garrett Brennan was outstanding at the end of last year's XC season ... won the NY NXN Regional with 191 speed rating (only two returning NY runners had a rating in the 190s) ... He was the top Manlius runner at NXN Nationals helping the FM Boys take 2nd-place on the podium.

Garrett set a 3200m PR in taking 4th at Indoor States in the 3200m (9:15.79) ... won the Fleet Feet Mile (4:22.98) ... He will head a very good FM Boys team looking for another good finish at NXN.

Matthew Payamps 12 St. Anthony's (CHSAA)

Matthew Payamps has had some good XC speed ratings (in the 170s) demonstrating XC ability.

But his recent ability in track is exceptional and a possible omen for the upcoming XC season ... set a huge PR at the 3200m at Loucks (8:56.06) ... traveled to the Festival of Miles in Missouri and finished 2nd in the Mile (behind team mate Mason Gatewood) in fast PR time (4:08.32) ... set a PR at 800m (1:52.51) ... ran two impressive 1200m splits in the DMR at Indoor and Outdoor NB Nationals (3:00.68, 3:00.71) ... Has the ability to challenge for the top spot in NY.

Behailu Bekele-Arcuri was the NY State Sophomore Runner-of-the Year in 2017 (and Freshmen Runner-of-the-Year previously) ... Finished 2nd at the strong Class A State race and won a varsity division at Manhattan ...... Set PRs during track including the 3200m (9:25.31), 1600m (4:23.6) and 800m (1:59.10).
