I make them available so viewers can see who the top individuals are and what they have done ... and I do not take the exact order of the lists too seriously (and neither should anybody else) ... Once the season begins, these lists are not used in any way to rank individual runners.

How To Read the Table Information: The number following the name is the school grade for the 2013 XC season. The "Class" in parentheses pertains to the 2013 XC season.  The XC data listed below the name are, in order, the race name, race date, place, actual race time, and speed rating (higher is faster).  Selected track data are also listed for most runners ... Girls XC performance database and Girls track &field performance database are available on separate web-pages.

Notes of Interest ... Mary Cain is not profiled here ... I heard she may be planning to run NXN post-season, but will likely remain "unattached", so would not be eligible for in-season high school races ... A main purpose of these profiles is to highlight the top high school runners who will race each other in season, especially at States and Feds.

Mary Barger (Fayetteville-Manlius) is transferring to Pittsford-Mendon in Section 5.

Olivia Morrow (top XC returner for Saratoga) has transferred to Holy Names.

 

Bella Burda    11    Arlington    (Section 1 - Class A)
Bella Burda is the defending NY Federation XC champion ... she finished 2nd to Mary Cain at the NXN-NY Regional at Bowdoin ... only five girls have run faster than Burda at Bowdoin (Aisling Cuffe, Nicole Blood, Mary Cain, Aislinn Ryan and Jillian Fanning) ... Overall, Bella had an outstanding XC season.

In track, Bella set major PRs at all distances including an exceptional indoor 3000m time of 9:33.9 (in NY, only Mary Cain, Aisling Cuffe, Molly Huddle and Samantha Nadel have run faster indoors) ... Bella Budra enters the 2013 XC season as the top rated harrier (with Katie Lembo very close).

Katie Lembo ran very well during her sophomore XC season, but stepped-up to the next level last season and became an elite  national runner ... She was 2nd at Feds, 3rd at Footlocker NE and 21st at Footlocker Finals ... also won five invitational XC races including McQuaid AAA.

In track, Katie set PRs at all distances ... Won the State Outdoor 3000m title with a PR (9:41.67) ... took 10th at New Balance Nationals Outdoor at 2-Miles (10:26.77) ... Clearly, a top runner in both NY and the nation.

Megan Reilly had a super freshmen season in XC ... Won the State Class A race with a sensational effort (beating both Bella Burda and Katie Lembo) ... Then qualified at Footlocker Northeast (9th) and finished 31st at Footlocker Finals.

In track, Megan lowered her 3000m PR to 10:13.15 (she did run 10:15 as an 8th-grader) ... Demonstrated much improved speed at 800m (relay legs of 2:12 and 2:13) and ran fast DMR relay splits at both Penn Relays and New Balance Nationals (4:58).

Marissa Saenger made a significant XC improvement from sophomore to junior seasons ... capped off a very successful season by qualifying at Footlocker NE (7th) and finishing 25th at Footlocker Finals ... she was 3rd at States (Class A) and won four invitational races including divisions at Manhattan and McQuaid.

In indoor track, Marissa was 3rd at States (3000m) and 6th at Nationals (2 Mile) ... Unfortunately, Marissa missed the last part of outdoor track due to a stress fracture ... before she got hurt, she ran the fastest times in Western New York in the 800 meters (2:19.44) and the 1,500 (4:44.34).

In track, set a very good 3000m PR at Penn Relays (9:45.49) ... was 3rd in the 3000m race at Outdoor States (9:50.44) and 4th at Indoor States ... Gianna is a serious challenger at the State-level and a definite contender for a national spot at either NXN or Footlocker.

As a sophomore in 2011, Laura Leff had a "career-performance" in finishing 3rd at Footlocker Finals ... An unfortunate stress fracture in her foot ended her indoor & outdoor track seasons ... Subsequent injuries did not allow serious summer training with a late XC start in the fall ... However, Laura still finished 6th at Feds and 16th at Footlocker Northeast.

Laura ran very decently during indoor and outdoor track ... finished 3rd at the Millrose Mile (4:54.71) and won the Loucks Games Steeple (6:52.56).

Mary made a significant improvement in XC performance last season and helped FM dominate at the State and National levels.

Mary performed very nicely during indoor and outdoor track setting major PRs at all distances ... Pittsford Mendon is getting an outstanding transfer.

Margaret Champagne was the #3-underclassmen at last year's Class D race and

best 3000m time for all Class D runners).
