The scores in this table consider only the 41 teams that qualified for States in 2003 ... Two Race Results were totaled using projected finish places of the 275 individual runners ... One Race used multiple seasonal races (with more weight given to recent races) ... The Second Race score was a simple totaling of JUST the sectional championship races - For some teams, there is a difference (some teams raced better at sectionals). One Note concerning Bay Shore ... there is a significant difference in Bay Shore's just-sectional score versus multiple-seasonal score ... I used Mary Liz McCurdy in the multiple-seasonal score, but she did not race at sectionals (I don't know her status) ... without her, Bay Shore's score for the multiple-seasonal score is 231. ... updated Nov 9, 2003 with Actual results |

Post Race ...
Overall, I'm reasonably pleased with these projections ...
as expected, some teams ran very well and a few did not ... I know some
scores were affected by the use of substitute runners, plus a couple
of injuries occurred during the races and some illness (but these problems
affect all teams at one time or another ... it's unfortunate when it
happens at States). |
