| Boys - Projected Merged Team Scores - NY State Championships - 2003 |

The scores in this table consider only the 42 teams that qualified for States in 2003 ... Two Race Results were totaled using projected finish places of the 275 individual runners ... One Race used multiple seasonal races (with more weight given to recent races) ... The Second Race score was a simple totaling of JUST the sectional championship races - For some teams, there is a difference (some teams raced better at sectionals). One example ... Tully and Oakfield-Alabama (both Class D teams) flip-flopped between just-sectional and multiple-seasonal ... at sectionals, one Tully runner (usually #3 or #4 finisher) finished last due to a stomach cramp ... this illustrates the effect one runner can have on a team score (unless you are the Shenendehowa boys or Saratoga girls and are truly seven runners deep).
