Early in Girls Varsity Race (about 3:50 after the start) ... the lead five runners include (left to right) Kayleigh Wheeless (Westhill, 6th), Julie Lynch (Skaneateles, 10th), Ashley Hughes (Phoenix, 3rd), Jessica O'Neill (Marcellus, winner) and Brittany Crawford (FM, 2nd) ... just behind are Amberlynn Mattice (Solvay, 9th), Meghan Nolan (Liverpool, 5th), Nicki Junod (CNS, 7th) and Meaghan McAnaney (Westhill, 8th)

Early in Girls Varsity Race (about 4:00 after the start) ... Zandra Walton (Skan, 12th) leads Elysia Townsend (Auburn, 15th) and Kathryn Niedzwiecki (Westhill, 19th)	Early in Girls Varsity Race (about 4:08 after the start) ... Allison Kosinski (Cazenovia, 11th) heads this group with Katie Losecco (FM, 21st), Amanda Kazanivski (Auburn, 18th), Emily Everding (Skan, 23rd) and Kellie Hasselwander (Westhill, 33rd) ... hidden behind Everding is Marie Parks (CNS, 4th) who went out slowly but passed many runners.

Girls Varsity Race ... about 0.75 miles remaining ... Jessica O'Neill (Marcellus, winner) leads Ashley Hughes (Phoenix, 3rd) and Brittany Crawford (FM, 2nd) ... Jessica pulled away to win impressively.

Early in the Boys Varsity Race (about 3:30 after the start) ... the lead group includes Dan McKenna (Liverpool, 2nd), Jeff Belge (Central Sq, 5th), Bryan Buchanan (CNS, 4th) ... just behind are Lopez Lomong (Tully, 3rd) and Dominick Luka (Tully, winner, hidden behind McKenna)

Boys Varsity Race, by the fence for the second time, (about 7:45 after the start) ... Sean Rienhardt (Tully, 12th) heads this group

Sensational finish of the Boys Varsity Race ... Dominick Luka (Tully) barely edges Dan McKenna (Liverpool) ... McKenna set the pace most of the race ... At last year's outdoor State Federation Track Championships, Luka finished 4th in the 800 meter run (1:54.57), but he had to extend himself completely in the final 100 meters of this XC race to win by inches ... At last year's State XC Championships at Elma Meadows, McKenna finished an excellent 4th (Class A) ... both runners are eyeing the State, Federation and regional Footlocker races in coming weeks.
