CLASS A

Hannah Kaercher, Zariel  Macchia, Izzie Sullivan and Emily Bush are the top-rated Class A 
runners ... all had a speed rating of 148 or higher last year ... Kaercher, Sullivan and
Bush did not run post-season XC races last year ... Macchia finished 2nd at Eastbay Northeast,
12th at Eastbay Nationals and then won the USATF U20 Championship in January ... This should
be an interesting competition amongst these four national class runners ... and some other
good runners are not that far behind and could challenge!

Saratoga is the defending 2019 NXN National Champion (NXN was cancelled the last two
years due to Covid) ... Saratoga has five runners in the top 12 Class A runners as
listed below, and will be the top-ranked team Nationally entering the season. 

Class A is once again loaded with top talent ... 12 runners had individual speed 
ratings of 130 or higher last XC season(s) ... and others may show improved abilities.

As usual, it is possible that several of these talented runners will step-up and challenge 
the top four.

Karrie Baloga is the the top speed-rated runner in NY State ... she finished 4th at
Eastbay Nationals last year (156 speed rating) ... Karrie Baloga was in Class A last
year, but Cornwall is dropping from Class A to Class B based on enrollment numbers.

A bunch of runners are in contention for the #2 spot in Class B.

Class C appears to be a two-runner competition entering the season ... Angelina Napoleon
is the defending Class C Champion ... Emilia O'Leary won the State Class B title last
year, but East Aurora is dropping from Class B to Class C ... Angelina Napoleon beat
Emilia O'Leary at both the NY XC Federation and Eastbay Northeast last year, and
Napoleon was exceptionally good during track (she set the National 2000m Steeplechase
Record).

I expected several other Class C runners might step-up to provide some competition to
the top two.
