How To Read the Table Information: The number following the name is the school grade for the 2017 XC season. The "Class" in parentheses pertains to the 2017 XC season. The XC data listed below the name are, in order, the race name, race date, place, actual race time, and speed rating (higher is faster). Selected track data are also listed for most runners ... Girls XC performance database and Girls track & field performance database are available on separate web-pages.

Kelsey Chmiel 11 Saratoga (Section 2 - Class A)

Kelsey Chmiel was the NY State Overall & Sophomore Runner-of-the-Year in XC last year ... Kelsey finished an outstanding 5th at NXN Nationals making her the #2 returning NXN runner behind 2nd-place NXN finisher Ember Stratton of Sunset Oregon ... She was also the NY Federation and Class A champion ... Kelsey Chmiel enters the 2017 XC season as the top-rated runner in NY and one of the top runners nationally.

After a spectacular track season as a freshmen, Kelsey continued the outstanding track performances as a sophomore ... set State sophomore records at Indoor 3000m (9:26.26 winning States) and 2-Miles (10:12.94, 3rd at Nationals) ... set Outdoor State Sophomore records at 3000m (9:18.09) and 3200m (9:59.62) ... Won Outdoor New Balance Nationals 2-Mile Championship race (10:10.44 under hot conditions) ..... And just for fun (the day after State Qualifiers in June), Kelsey finished 9th at the Freihofer's 5K Run for Women running 16:42.1 and beating some well known professional runners (Ashley Higginson, Amy Van Alstine, Jen Rhines ... race won by Sara Hall in 15:48.9).

Katherine Lee 12 Shoreham Wading River (Section 11 - Class B)

Katherine Lee stepped-up to the elite-national level last year in XC and enters 2017 as a Top 10 runner in the nation ... Won the NY NXN Regional (154 speed rating) and finished 10th at NXN Nationals (#4 returning runner from NXN Nationals).

Similar to the previous years in track, Katherine set major PRs including the 3000m (9:26.78), 1500m (4:23.48) and 800m (2:04.56 relay split at New Balance Nationals).

Katelyn Tuohy ran exceptionally well in her first season of cross country as an 8th-grader, and performed even better last year as a freshman ... she finished 2nd at NY Federations and 13th at NXN Nationals (#6 returning runner from NXN Nationals) ... also had two races with 150+ speed ratings making her a top runner nationally.

Katelyn has set multiple NY State Class Records during both Indoor and Outdoor Track ... Won the New Balance National Mile race (4:45.95 breaking Mary's Cain's NY Freshman record) and won Outdoor States 1500m (4:18.51) ... Dropped her 3000m PR to 9:30.28 just missing Mary Cain's class record.
