| 2000 Meter Steeplechase ... about
3 and half laps remaining ... Lindsey Ferguson (Saratoga) led the
entire race and set a new State record (just missing the National
record) ... her closest competition was Emily Malinowski
(Bethlehem), Heather Iatauro (Tri-Valley) and Kara McKenna
(Suffern) ... Update concerning the National record - it
was announced at the meet that the record was just missed (a mark of
6:43 was thought be the record by a high school age girl) - DyeStat
reports the old record was 6:47.03 (which would make it a new record,
which is certainly OK by me). |

approaching two laps to go ... Heather Iatauro (Tri-Valley) began
closing the gap slightly, but Lindsey Ferguson (Saratoga)
responded with another surge and finished in record time ... a
sensational race with six girls breaking 7 minutes! |
