The Albany indoor track is about 172 meters per lap ... a new and improved running surface was added this year ... The track is basically a rectangle with rounded corners ... there are four straightway sections per lap (two fairly long and two short straightways)

 

 

Girls 3000 Meters ... early in the race ... Lindsey Ferguson (Saratoga) went directly to the lead and led for nearly 1500 meters ... winner Nicole Blood (Saratoga, 9:43.93) remained behind early, then closed the gap on Ferguson and took the lead shortly before the 1500 meter mark ... Nicole Blood ran fairly even 1500 splits (4:51.8, 4:52.2) and finished strongly in a very good effort.

Brittney Lane (Caitlin's younger sister, in 7th grade) won the slower division in 3:12.55

Girls 1500 Meters ... early in the race ... Hannah Davidson (Saratoga) took the early lead with Danielle Schaub (Scotia) in second and Samantha Dow (Guilderland) in third ... race winner Emily Malinowski (Bethlehem, 4:44.81) was trailing the entire pack at this point, and then began to move up gradually Girls 1500 Meters ... after trailing early, Emily Malinowski (Bethlehem, 4:44.81) moved powerfully to the lead with a burst a speed ... Danielle Schaub (Scotia) was the only runner who attempted to keep pace, but Malinowski was too strong (Emily's final 800m was 2:27.8).

Boys 1600 Meters ... Brian Rhodes-Devey (Guilderland) moved quickly the lead and led for most of the race ... winner Dan McManamon (Shenendehowa, 4:20.84) bided his time nicely, and was about 5 to 7 meters behind Brian mid-way through the race (the rest of the field was far behind) ... Dan moved to the lead with a quick burst of speed and coasted to the finish-line with something in reserve.
