Reflecting an increasing popularity in the scholastic sports of Track and Cross-Country, area coaches for those sports have banded together to form the CNY Track & Cross-Country Coaches Association.

The purposes of the association are as follows:

·       Enhance the sports experiences of track and cross-country athletes.

·       Improve communication and cooperation among Central New York coaches.

·       Promote Track and Cross-Country as positive, life-long sports for young adults.

·       Provide a unified voice for Central New York coaches on relevant issues.

Membership in the association is open to all levels of Central New York coaches in the cross-country, indoor track and outdoor track sports. The membership fee is $25/year.

The association is currently organizing Membership, Organization and Project committees. The first project to be undertaken this fall will be the CNY Coaches Association Cross-Country Invitational. The invitational will be held this September at Jamesville Beach, site of the 2007 Section III Cross-Country Championship. Proceeds from that invitational will fund future athlete-related activities. Subsequent association projects will be determined this spring.

The association’s next meeting will be held Wednesday, April 11th at 7:00pm in Room 114 of Chittenango High School. All area track and cross-coaches are invited to attend and help shape this new association. For more information, contact Jim Lawton at jlawton@twcny.rr.com.
